Wedding Meme

I saw this Wedding Meme at ByGrace and thought I would try it. My wedding and pre wedding excitement had a funeral, a pregnant matron-of-honor and a speeding ticket so I am sure it will be like many of your wedding days!

1. Where/How did you meet? My car broke down on the way to LA and I needed the work that a mechanic did checked. The business I stopped at was my husband family's truck stop.

2. How long have you known each other? 18 (almost 19) years

3. How long after you met did you start dating? The same day we ate lunch

4. How long did you date before you were engaged? two days:)

5. How long was your engagement? Six weeks

6. How long have you been married? 18( almost 19) years

7. What is your anniversary? August 27

8. How many people came to your wedding reception? I think around 75

9. What kind of cake did you serve? A three tier cake white with lavender flowers

10. Where was your wedding? In a little church in Nevada(not in Las Vegas)

11. What did you serve for your meal? We did not have a meal

12. How many people were in your wedding party? Best man, Matron of Honor

13. Are you still friends with them all? We are all family (brother in law best man, Very pregnant sister matron of honor)

14. Did your spouse cry during the ceremony? No

15. Most special moment of your wedding day? I met my mother-in-law just before I was married. My in-laws are divorced, so I had not met her yet.

16.Any funny moments? After we were married and were heading off on our honeymoon, big joke, the local highway patrolman pulled us over and actually made Bill get out of the vehicle(covered in shaving cream JUST MARRIED) and ask him what the rush was:)!!!!

17. Any big disasters? We were originally going to get married in Ohio in my home. We had a beautiful staircase, and I always wanted to be married coming down the stairs. But my very ill grandmother died 3days before we were to be married and my mother didn't want a wedding and a funeral. So she sent us back to Nevada and we changed the date of the wedding. My grandmother had suffered from alzhiemers for over a decade and my mom convinced a very naive ME that life and going forth was much more important than the death. So I look back at how sad it was that my mom had a bittersweet memory of life and death.

An unusual thing happened at our reception that I had never seen before, nor since. Some women began opening the gifts and placing them on the table. They didn't record what we received from whom, nor did we receive any cash. I have never been to a wedding where someone didn't give cash, but I guess mine was the first.

18. Where did you go on your honeymoon? We drove to San Diego, and went to Sea World

19. How long were you gone? Only 3 days, my father-in -law wanted Bill back to help with the business

20. If you were to do your wedding over, what would you change? Nothing

21. What side of the bed do you sleep on? I sleep on the side furthest from the door. So if I rearrange the side changes.

22. What size is your bed? Queen

23. Greatest strength as a couple? Our love for Christ

24. Greatest challenge as a couple? When our daughter was born(10 weeks premature)

25. Who literally pays the bills? Bill

26. What is your song? We don't have one

27. What did you dance your first dance to? We were chaperones to the local high school a few weeks after we were married and being young we danced to a few songs. I couldn't tell you what the songs were

28. Describe your wedding dress I was born in Georgia, and my mom wanted me to have a Southern wedding, so I had a Southern Belle style dress

29. What kind of flowers did you have at your wedding? Lavender and white mixes of a variety of flowers.

30. Are your wedding bands engraved? No

Thanks for participating with us! It was fun to read about your wedding. I'm sorry that there was a death so close to your special day - that must have been hard on you and your mom. The police pulling you over is hilarious!
