On the Mountain

On Saturday, I spent the day on the mountain, with a friend who is moving to Texas. The boys had to work, Fourth went with Bill, so I was the only Pen of Jen member who went.
It was the most delightful drive in my life. After living in the desert for so long, I feel like seeing real trees was part of my imagination. Then I drove up past Cloudcroft NM. I was in heaven, and what an opportunity to really ponder and pray. Even while I was assisting my friend, I was praying.

My friend is new in the making, and special beyond belief. And ironically she told me her 'nickname' is Special K, yes, like the cereal. So I have nicknamed the family Tony the Tiger, Special K,and the Corn Pops. They probably will think I am crazy, but it does seem to fit this wonderful family.

Although smelling pine trees was awesome, seeing all the kids was special, visiting with Special K great, I saw God's gifts in Tony the Tiger. He has a talent for creating things out of wood. I was speechless! I saw a man that is Genesis 3:19, In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust thou return.

He works so very hard for K and the pops, and his handiwork is a gift of God. He takes a piece of wood and sees more. Sounds like God doesn't it. God takes all the roughness, badness, and sadness, and sees more. He saw so much that He gave his only begotten Son for us to have everlasting life.(John 3:16)

So my dear Tony the Tiger, Special K and the Corn Pops family, thank you again for our friendship, and thank you for the wonderful example you set for all of us!

A joyous moment for you to share with your friend - the mountains and above all in what you have seen and in sharing.

Perhaps it was meant to be - just you and in so doing you have been enriched by such an experience.

Cloudcroft is a beautiful area. Mickey's father was killed there, in a road construction accident in 1959. He was 58 years old.

I'm glad you got a break, and enjoying some new friends and God's beauty.

It sounds like a great time with some wonderful people. I loved what you said about God seeing something more in us, in our rough and imperfect exterior, and making us into something beautiful if we let him. I am going to share that thought with the kids tomorrow morning!! :-)

Cloudcroft is a very beautiful place. We were in a camper when we saw it for the first time. We even had a visit from a bear during the night. Sounds like you had a very rememberable time with your husband and friends. connie from Texas
